Highlands

About

A journey to the heart of Johann Sebastian Bach's powerful spirituality. A journey that touches on the sublime, as this strikingly beautiful territory unfolds with great care and humanity.

Highlands concludes the tetralogy around Bach, this time accompanied by the music of Henry Purcell, György Kurtág, Benjamin Britten, Arvo Pärt and Friedrich Haendel, performed with brio. White light and inner darkness. Highlands is a mystical, celestial quest, a moment of pure beauty.

“Elegance, truth, beauty, austerity, choreographic fertility, intellectuality and sophistication, as well as a taste for what is telluric. These are qualities that are woven in harmony in the hypnotic dance of Mal Pelo, a contemporary dance group, led by Pep Ramis and María Muñoz, and which has been placed in one of the most prestigious, and with the greatest international trajectory of the recent history of dance in our country. Qualities that, in view of its latest premiere, Highlands, become superlative adjectives.”
— Carmen del Val, El País, 9th May 2021 / Premiere of HIGHLANDS
“A poetic journey into the unknown.”
“Perfect symbiosis between dance, music and song.”
