Architectures Vivantes

About

This scientific and artistic research highlights the relationship between architecture and living organisms.

Going from micro to macro by a scale factor of more than a million, it makes visible real human cells that develop on a tiny engraving pattern of this singular façade to show us how their internal architecture sense and adapt.

That is the vertiginous nature of such research: observe the development of cells under a microscope at the scale of this monumental architecture. Human body is like a living architecture made up of more than 10000 billion cells. If cells were not able to sense and adapt to the geometry of their surrounding environment, they would remain round and we would look like “patatoids”. But it’s not.
